Holiday Season 2014

This year, I did what I usually plan, but fail, to do, which is get ready for the holiday season a full two months in advance.  First, I started working on my new holiday card offerings and then I attempted to take some photos that would do them some justice!

Happy Holidays from San Francisco
Merry and Bright
I also signed up in advance for a pop up show at Rickshaw Bagworks which is taking place this Saturday, November 15.  They do the pop ups once a month and I figured it's a show that close to the holidays but not so late that people would have already sent out their holiday cards.  I'll be at Rickshaw Bagworks at 904 22nd St San Francisco, CA from 11am-3pm this Saturday, so stop by!

I ordered a free Etsy reader, so that I can accept non cash payments at the show.  It will also come in handy if I run out of any inventory and need to take orders that I can ship to customers once I've finished printing items just for them.  I haven't tried it out yet, but I'm excited!

I've also been working on some pretty gold foil stickers/labels that I'll be showing for the first time at the pop up show.  With my handy Silhouette Cameo, I can cut stickers into any shape I want - such as Christmas trees, gingerbread men, whales, airplanes, clouds.  I'll get photographs of those take slowly thereafter, but gold may be a little challenging to photograph.  This is an example of the ribbon label packaging that I designed, printed and then cut on the Silhouette Cameo for my Love from San Francisco labels.

Sending Love from SF, NYC, LA or San Diego

It started with NYC and then SF because I've had great memories in both places....but then it spread to LA and San Diego where we have family.  These four cities kick off our Sending Love label series.  We'll add more cities later and of course I'm happy to work with you on custom city labels!

Coming Soon - Stickers!

I've been working on a new idea recently.  I have always loved stickers, and my plan was to convert some of my Chunky Pineapple designs to stickers.  They can be used as envelope seals or just for fun anywhere else.  Below is a sneak peek at a couple designs which should be posted in our etsy shop soon.
Bright and cheerful pineapples (1.5" circles)

Our ever popular rainbow bicycles - available on white or kraft 1.5" circle stickers.  Perfect to go with a rainbow notecard pack!

I've also been playing around with watercolors.  I think this would look lovely spread out over stickers.  No two will be alike!

Stay tuned though, because there will be a lot more coming down the pipeline.  I'm so excited!

Custom Birthday Cards - Batter Bakery

The end of August was super busy as we partnered up with Batter Bakery to print our birthday designs using their logo colors (red, light teal and chocolate brown).  It was super fun and the cards turned out lovely.  These cards are only available at the three Battery Bakery locations here in San Francisco.

As part of their order, we also printed our geometric thank you cards in a new colorway - metallic turquoise with navy text.  When the cards were completed, I really preferred how the turquoise shimmers compared to the gold used for the original gold/navy colorway, so we now only offer this new colorway in our etsy shop
This photo really doesn't do metallic turquoise justice!

Busy Busy

I've been busy printing recently and have released a few new designs on the Etsy Shop.

As promised, after designing and printing the custom wedding thank you cards, Local Take requested wedding congratulations cards with a similar theme.  I ended up with two styles.  The first, similar to the thank you cards has a classic western and haberdashery style to it.  The second has more of an art deco feel.
Overlapping Bowties

Art Deco Congrats
I have also been working on a couple summer pineapple designs.  I do wish I had gotten them out earlier in the summer, but we've just been so busy.  I'm pretty happy with how both of them came out.  I really need to figure out how to take better photos, because these aren't really doing these cards justice.

Custom Wedding Thank You Cards

A colleague of mine recently got married so we worked together to design some stylish thank you cards for him and his husband to thank all of his guests.

The couple chose cream watercolor card stock and some eco-friendly natural cardstock made from with recycled paper.
Their wedding colors were plum and pumpkin, so we used a dark purple for the haberdashery style font greeting and classy black for the gentlemanly bowties inside.
Stay tuned as we revisit this theme for some new congratulations cards - they were specially requested by our friends at Local Take in the Castro.

DIY Mother's Day Gift

These washi tape decorated clothespins make a wonderful Mother's Day gift!  They're cute and super easy and, best of all, they serve a purpose!  I superglued very strong and tiny magnets to the backs of them so they will stay put on the fridge door.  No more weak magnets falling to the floor when you try to hold up a thicker piece of paper!

You can get all kinds of lovely patterns on washi tape on Etsy.  I will be gifting a set of these to each of my mom and my mother-in-law along with a few of Baby CP's art work projects.

It's that time of year again

It's that time of year where we celebrate and acknowledge all the hard work and love that our parents put into our upbringing.  I decided to continue on with the clean and minimal text with some bright standout colors.

I. LOVE. THIS.

I found instructions to make these on the beautiful Studio DIY blog.  Apparently they've also made pineapple walnuts before.  Super cute!!

Happy Birthday Balloons

For Valentine's Day, I designed these We're Good Together cards which were pretty popular in a couple shops that carried them here in San Francisco.

I liked the overlapping effect so much I used the idea again to create a cheerful balloon birthday card.  I printed them in a bold and cheerful colorway and a light, delicate and airy colorway.  Don't you love 'em?

Geometric Thank You

Over the long weekend, I also completed this triangle pattened thank you card.  I wanted to pair the bold geometrics with a delicate font.  The gold ink was a little harsh on its own, so I toned it down by mixing in some yellow ink.

It turns out that the lighting in my office isn't terrible.  Which photo looks better?  I  like the brown background, but unfortunately the shape of the card looks a little distorted because the card kept trying to open up.

I made the magnets shown in the top picture (and matching push pins) a while back using Lotta Jansdotter fabric, flat back buttons and a button coverer.  That was a fun project.

Less Than One Month Marshmallows!

Yes, that's right, the Veronica Mars movie comes out on March 14.  It's almost here!  In honor of the revival of one of my favorite television shows on the big screen, I designed and printed this A Long Time Ago card.  It was a great theme song...
Available here.
I figured the Marshmallow fandom would need invitation cards to get everyone together for the premiere night showings.
